New This chart includes the writing formats for grade 1-10 and can be used to help in the planning of assignments and assessments to ensure the writing formats included for your grade level.
  • Listening Self-Check Sample - This sample self-assessment listening template offers students a chance to reflect on their own listening skills. Originally developed for a Grade 5 classroom, this template can be modified to suit your class. You can add or remove indicators as needed. Created by Jade Ballek, 2010.
  • Writing Rubric - This rubric reflects the 6+1 Traits of writing and has been created by Arlene Low at Davidson School. Shared August, 2011.
  • Descriptive Paragraph Rubric: CC 7.9 - shared by Arlene Low
  • Reading for Fluency - This is a great rubric for assessing fluency for Grade 7 and 8! Created by Arlene Low (Davidson). September, 2011.
  • Portfolio Interview Script - In the spring of 2011, Arlene Low at Davidson School replaced her traditional paper and pencil final exam with a student portfolio interview instead. Here is her template script, but you really should take the time to talk to her about this creative and authentic way of assessing the ELA program! For more information about portfolios, listen to Arlene talk about her experiences. NEW!
New This is an assessment that can be adapted to any lesson. It gives choice for students to show what they know. The Writing formats can be changed to include what is expected at your grade level.
